Why do people spend so much money designing and implementing their bathrooms? Why do homes with great bathrooms sell faster than others? On average, we Americans spend approximately five years in the bathroom during our life time. The bathroom has become a home spa where we relax and unwind after a long day. It's the one place where we can seek, and find, solace. So it's not hard to understand why we spend much of our home improvement budget on things like air tubs, multi-head showers and beautiful fixtures. One of those fixtures is the sink. The sink is often almost overlooked and almost always under-appreciated. But the sink is one of the focal points of the bath and the right sink can make or break the whole bath's design. TOTO is one of the manufacturers who know this and they create sinks that are never take a back seat to the other design elements in your bath. And they take the guesswork out of designing your new dream bath with their bath collections. Simply choose a collection and all the elements-toilet, tub, sinks, and faucets-- will coordinate beautifully.

TOTO is a master at designing all of today's bath sinks-from wall-mount to vanity-- that will make your new dream bath a place you will love to spend time. Here are some of the best TOTO bathroom sinks to consider for your bathroom.

Wall-Mounted Sinks

Wall-mounted sinks are making a fashion statement in Contemporary baths today. The simplicity of a wall-mount sink is anything but dull when you add a fantastic tile background and a fabulous faucet. They are an alternative to console and pedestal sinks and while they do have the same drawback of these sinks-lack of storage space underneath-- wall-mounted sinks also has an advantage most sinks do not have, they can be placed at different heights to accommodate children and adults who are less than comfortable at the average sink height. They also save floor space. There are far more choices when buying wall-mount sinks today than ever before. TOTO's wall-mount sinks are a case in point with their Prominence and Supreme sinks with their elegant curves and SanaGloss Technology that helps keep your beautiful sink beautiful.

Console

Looking for something sleek and contemporary? TOTO's console sinks are a perfect choice. Console sinks are wall-mounted but have legs. These sinks offer the countertop space similar to a vanity sink but is a great alternative for those who are looking for something more unique. TOTO's Lloyd Wood Console Lavatory has very uncomplicated lines and ultramodern Asian styling. Or you might choose TOTO's Lloyd Metal Console Lavatory with china and metal styling. Add a simple stainless steel or nickel faucet to either of these console sinks for the ultimate contemporary luxury.

Raised Square Sinks

Square above-counter sinks raise the bar on bathroom vanities. Raised sinks are more comfortable with less bending. The TOTO Waza Above Counter Vessel Lavatory with its Zen styling is the ideal for an Asian inspired bath. Or choose TOTO's Sedona Square vessel bath sink that is a perfect fit for any style bathroom. Square sinks are a trendy addition to contemporary bathrooms but the trendiness can be lost if it isn't paired with the right vanity. Consider a black wood vanity with contemporary styling or a raised wall mount vanity in a wood finish.

Vessel Sink

A vessel sink is one of the most versatile bath sinks. These can be used in any style bath and they come in many colors and shapes. TOTO vessel sinks are no exception. For the Asian inspired bath the TOTO offers the Waza Noir cast iron vessel lavatory in matte black; for the look of contemporary the Curva Round Vessel Lavatory; the traditional Nexus and for any style bath there's the Larissa 17" Round. Dress these sinks up with your choice of tile and vanity for your own unique look.

Pedestal Sink

Nothing could be more graceful or charming than a pedestal sink and TOTO's pedestal sinks are certainly no less. Check out the Whitney, Carrollton or Dartmouth pedestal sinks with matching toilet for the vintage look bath or the Promenade Pedestal with more traditional styling. For those of you who love contemporary TOTO has you covered too with the Nexus, Pacifica or the Soiree. Pair two pedestal sinks with a type of storage between like a small chest of drawers, storage cabinet or open shelves for towels and toiletries.

Vanity Sinks

Start with any TOTO self-rimming or under-counter sink, add a vanity cabinet in your favorite style and finish and top with a drop-dead countertop and you have a real morning eye-opener. There's no limit to the looks your can achieve with the TOTO line of vanity sinks with matching tubs, toilets and beautiful coordinating faucets. And if you think vanity sinks are boring you don't know TOTO. Take the TOTO Waza Noir Cast Iron Self Rimming Lavatory, with its graceful curves and contours, this bath sink is anything but dull!

Understand How To Keep Bathroom Sinks Running Smoothly extra

Bathroom Sinks

In the midst of a busy suburb, you plan to start your work in a new place. Your new work place seems just in order including furniture, and other accessories. Even the commercial cleaning or more appropriately the office cleaning services are also ready to assist. However, you may have a little bit of problem with bathroom sinks. Although there are a host of reasons for their blockade, the biggest problem you will face initially is probably due to some tough material getting stuck in the drainage pipe.

Apart from that the bathroom sinks end up with all the yucky stuff going down them. Toothpaste, shaving cream, soap scum are just a few of those things. With the accumulation of all these things, your bathroom drains either go too slow or not at all. Surely a blocked drainage in your workplace will cast a really bad impression over your subordinates. If you wish to keep them running smoothly, then here are some tips:

• Try running plain hot water down your bathroom drain for at least thirty seconds. Repeat the practice at least once a week. This will prevent any blockage from piling up.

• Another option for the smooth drainage is to put one spoon salt down the drain the slowly add one-forth cup of vinegar.

• Wait for around an hour and then run hot water down the drain to clear out the salt.

• Also pour some liquid bleach down the drain to keep it running.

Regular applications of all these practices will help in continuous flow down the bathroom sinks. But at times there can be some major obstruction clogging up your bathroom drains. In this case, you have to apply a slightly different approach.

• For a moderately clogged drain, a combination of baking soda and vinegar works just fine. Put half a cup of baking soda through the drain then slowly pour the same amount of vinegar. Due to the difference of pH of both these components, a foaming action is generated which helps to loosed the clogging agent. After some time, you can use warm water to rinse away that material.

• Usually plunging also proves effective to clear blocked drains. This is done by adding excess water in the sink area. After that you can place the plunger directly above the drain and start plunging repeatedly. This will help in removing any obstructions from the drainage pipe.

• If you think the drainage is still blocked after plunging, try using a drain auger. It is mainly a small piece of coil with a metal hook at one end. It is stiff enough to go through the drain and when you come across any obstructions on the way, they can easily be pulled out of the drain.

• Once you have sufficiently opened the blockage, run hot water through the drain. This will rinse away the sticky side of the drain pipes.

These little tips can be applied to both commercial and residential bathroom sinks in case you find them completely choked or partially blocked.

If you are remodeling your bathroom then you need some graph paper square

Before starting work on your bathroom-remodeling project you will need to draw a plan showing where everything is going to go. If you draw your plan to scale and you've taken care over getting your measurements right then you will be able to see from it whether or not your new bathroom design is going to work or not. Believe me if your bathroom design isn't going to work then it is much better to find out before you start ripping out the existing bathroom than afterwards when you have bought the new stuff and you find that it doesn't fit in the room.

Drawing a scale diagram of your bathroom isn't difficult; you might remember doing something similar at school. The trick to making life easy for yourself is to draw your plan on graph paper square or squared paper. This is nothing more than a sheet of paper with horizontal and vertical lines drawn at regular intervals but it makes things so much easier.

Yes there is software you could use to design your bathroom

Why does everyone want software to do everything for them today? People expect that all they have to do is buy a remodeling or design program for their PC and it will do the job for them. Well this just isn't the case. Is there software available? Yes there is and some very good programs there are too. Will it make my life easier when I remodel my bathroom at home? Unlikely.

Now if you are a property developer or a professional designer of kitchens and bathrooms then remodeling software is an essential part of your life because it enables you to reuse your work over and over again. However if you are just redesigning your bathroom at home then I would advise against it. Here is a list of arguments against using software:

Bathroom remodeling software is expensive (More than a sheet of paper)
You will need to learn how to use the software, which takes time.
Producing a design could take longer than using graph paper square
It isn't easy to change the design while you are in the showroom
The software may not do everything you expect it to do.
The scale drawing method is very simple

If you are worried about the scary words "scale drawing" then don't be. All it means is that you are going to make a smaller than life drawing of your bathroom while keeping all the distances in proportion. For instance if your bathroom is 8 foot by 10 foot and you have some squared paper with 16 squares by 25 squares then you can simply use the scale 1 foot = 2 squares. Your scale drawing would then use 16 squares across the top by 20 squares down and leave 5 unused squares at the bottom.

How did I arrive at that scale? I divided the number of squares across the paper by the length of the shortest side of the bathroom. Then I divided the number of squares down the page by the length of the longest side of the bathroom. This gave me 2 squares to the foot (16/8) across and 2.5 (25/10) squares to the foot down. Now both scales need to be the same for a true scale drawing so I chose the lower of the 2 scales, which was 2 squares to the foot. This ensured that my drawing would actually fit on the paper.

Cut out all the bathroom fixtures and shuffle them about

I think that the fun part of using squared paper to design a bathroom is drawing the new fixtures to scale on graph paper and cutting them out so that they can be pushed into position on top of another sheet of graph paper with a drawing of the room on it. You can spend many happy hours experimenting with different arrangements like this.

Spend time getting your bathroom design right

Make sure you spend plenty of time on the design phase of your project because whatever you come up with will be what you have live with for some time to come so it pays to get it right from the beginning.

Don't forget the bathroom accessories

When you are having fun rearranging the fixtures using your graph paper square design paper, bear in mind what accessories you will want to put in the bathroom. While accessories aren't fixed they still require room so if you are planning to put a large potted plant in the bathroom make sure that you leave enough space for it.

Draw plans of the floor and walls

You will need plans of the floor space looking down. You will also need plans of the walls, especially if you are planning vanity units, mirrors or cupboards.

Discuss the bathroom remodel plan with your contractors

Before you finalise your design make sure that you have discussed it with your contractors to avoid any disappointments later. They will point out any problems with the arrangement and any difficulties that you might face with regulatory requirements that you must adhere to.

Remember that a sink is one of the most important items that your bathroom can't go without. Choosing the right type and style will provide a positive feeling in the room as well as make things easier and more convenient for all people using it. Find out the different kinds to know which one best suits your preference and area. Here are some tips on small bathroom sinks.

The Types of Sinks

Traditional models of bathrooms sinks are usually made of white porcelain. These are usually very affordable and come in various shapes and sizes. Most popular forms would be round, oval or square placed on a countertop or a pedestal. If you want to have a solid color finish on your bathroom sink and countertop, you may want to invest in solid surface models which are pre-molded in standard sizes that can easily be fitted in most counter spaces. There are also custom-molded designs which are more expensive and should be installed by a professional.

Your small bathroom may look wider and sleeker with sinks made of glass. There are glass sink bowls which are popular among contemporary themes. These are very functional and fashionable since they come in an array of colors, textures and patterns. You can find several designs that will match your bathroom theme. There are also some styles that can be set on top of counters or come with iron bases and chrome stands. These types of materials are good at drawing and reflecting light that will create the illusion of a bigger space.

If you really intend to use light to expand the feeling in the room, invest in metal bathroom sinks which come in stainless steel, chrome, copper and brass. The drain, faucet and knobs are metal as well. These are especially attractive when placed under good light. You can also pick some useful combinations to compliment the metal such as porcelain or glass. The good thing about sink bowls is that you can install them virtually on any solid base. There are also wall-mounted designs that will give you more floor space and improve efficiency in your small bathroom.

Choosing the Right Sink

When choosing the right small bathroom sink, make sure you have the accurate dimensions. If you're simply replacing an old model, make sure the new one fits correctly into the present cutout. Also consider the type and style of faucet you should put on the sink. Maintain balance and symmetry as well as the right hole punching measuring either 4 or 8 inches. Faucets also come in different styles so mix and match colors and patterns according to your theme.

Bathroom

The ocean probably evokes certain distinct associations such as the soothing sand, warm sun and refreshing waves. It is one of those themes that many people love to incorporate into their bathrooms. As one of the first places you visit every morning, the space could definitely use a relaxed and soothing ambiance. Here are some useful tips for creating an ocean-inspired bathroom without spending an ocean of money on decor.

Repainting the walls is one of the cheapest ways to dramatically change the visual impact of any room. This holds true for bathroom renovations: what you do to the walls has a huge visual effect on the overall outcome of the space. You could opt for a calming pastel color like sea blue and tan to simulate the water of the ocean and the sand around it. A shell- or starfish-printed wallpaper could also contribute a fanciful, ocean-themed touch.

Another great idea is to seek the help of an artist to paint a mural on your bathroom wall. The imagery of a vast beach, crashing waves, white sand, a sand castle and a beach chair will definitely get the effect you wanted. If you're having second thoughts on spending a lot for the artist, the painting is something you could do yourself. A sponge treatment and a few cans of paint can give you surf and sand at a fraction of the cost.

But that beachy ambiance can go far beyond just your walls. An area rug or even a small foot rug can add a lot to the look and feel of the bathroom. Color can be a big consideration; area rugs in tan to simulate sand or in bright blue to simulate water help complete the ocean feel. Starfish- or fish-shaped foot rugs add interest to an otherwise boring tile floor. There are lots of places for a rug around your bathroom: in front of the door, facing the sink and before the shower area are just some of the possible places for a rug. Just make sure that the rugs you choose are durable and either washable or waterproof.

Once you are done decorating with the major design elements, it is time for you to add the small details to your bathroom. Stickers, for example, are a great way to liven up boring tile: starfish, corals and colorful fish stickers on your bathroom wall tiles add color and life to your space. Put some colored sand into a small fishbowl and then display it on top of the toilet bowl or bathroom sink to add even more color to your bathroom beach.

With a little imagination and creativity, there are countless things you could add. A short, wide-mouth glass can be filled halfway with pebbles and then topped with starfish- or coral-shaped tea candles to create a beautifully unique candle holder. Memorabilia such as a lei or an old skimboard will make your little space look even more authentic. All it takes is a little creative spirit to bring the beach right home inside your bathroom.

Understand Bathroom - Add Attractive Storage to a Small Bathroom far more

Not everyone has a large bathroom to work with, which means that storage can sometimes be difficult. No one wants to leave their personal items out on the counter simply for lack of storage space, but with some creativity, you do not have to. Consider some options for making the most of a small space.

If your bathroom came with few cabinets under the sink, and no medicine cabinet, you will have to get a little creative. Most home improvement and craft stores do carry cabinets that you can affix to the wall. Some come decorated already, whether that means they are painted an attractive shade or include decorative touches like flowers on them. If the one you like is plain, you can simply paint it yourself so that it matches the rest of the room, and even add your own fake flowers or unique foam shapes. Just consider the theme of the rest of the room before you choose how to decorate your new medicine cabinet.

If you are tired of storing all your bath products on the side of the tub, there are products available for you to fix this issue. You can get a wire basket that affixes to the wall of the bathtub, which means that you can keep the items in the tub while not taking up any space that you normally use. Some even fit perfectly in the corner of the tub if you prefer that look. Mesh nets can also store everything from children's bath toys to shower products, keeping them out of the way while allowing water to drain off them at the same time.

Of course, you can also line your counter with cute baskets and boxes that can hold small items. Consider buying them in the colors that would match the rest of the bathroom, or paint them yourself if you are artsy at all. They can allow added storage while adding to the décor for a small price.

Decorating a room can be fun, but it is even better when the decorations are all functional as well as pretty. Do not allow your bathroom to be cluttered by leaving all your items scattered around the room. Instead, hide them in an attractive way with cute baskets, boxes, and storage cabinets. Doing so will likely cause you to become the envy of your friends with larger but less functional bathrooms. If your bathroom leaves a lot to be desired in the way of space, you can fix it without knocking out a wall. Consider storage options that are attractive, creative, and can fit in any bathroom, no matter the size.

How to Remodel A Small Bathroom

Bathroom

Not all bathrooms can be lavish spaces with whirlpool tubs and two separate vanities. For some bathrooms, space is at a premium and knocking out walls is not an option, but remodeling must be done. Small bathroom remodeling presents its own complications, but with the right information, a small bathroom-remodeling project can shine.

Before beginning your small bathroom remodeling, design a floor plan that maximizes the room's useable space. Don't be afraid to design up by incorporating free-floating cabinets. Use mirrors to stretch a small bathroom's space, and keep the color scheme simple. Keep a small bathroom bright, fresh, and inviting with coordinated colors and accessories.

Pare down the scale in your bathroom. Big items take up more space in the bathroom and look bulky. Corner sinks are simple and small. These sinks free up visual space below, but don't provide the counter space and cabinet space that a traditional sink provides. Another option is a pedestal sink. These sinks have a more classic design and are free standing. Wall-mounted sinks save space but do not have counter space. Both types of sinks do not provide storage space underneath. Most home-improvement stores stock smaller sinks, or you can custom order one from a cabinet shop for a price.

A simple way to conserve space is to do away with a tub and just use a shower. Smaller tubs, however, are available, although most cannot handle whirlpool faucets. Any tub less than five feet long will probably spill the water sprayed by the whirlpool faucets.

Pick a toilet that can sit close to the wall to conserve space, and the size of the seat and tank design determine just how much space the toilet will use. Also pay attention to the size of the home's original toilet. Older homes have toilets with 10 to 14 inches between the wall and the toilet drain, but newer homes typically have 12 inches. The wrong toilet won't fit. Buying a toilet with a low tank takes up less visual space and compact toilets leave more room, but as with any small bathroom remodeling project, use these suggestions to find a toilet that is both stylish and fits in the room.

Finally, limit what you bring into the bathroom. To save space in a cramped bathroom, for example, it may be best to have a dressing area in a bedroom. Limit the number of accessories -- clutter can easily make a small bathroom look smaller.

Planning a small remodeling may take extra planning, but the resulting clean, beautiful, an uncluttered bathroom will be an inviting space.

At a cute boutique, as you're looking at all the neat stuff you find that you need to use the bathroom. You ask the salesperson where it is, thank them, and trot your way there. You open the door and stand back a second in surprise at the neat design. Tile hues stand out in a striking display, the floors look amazing, and one of the unique design features in front of you is a cute vessel sink. You come out of the bathroom with a spring in your step because you felt like you really were in a snazzy place. Not just some run of the mill, behind the building, bathroom.

Later you recommend that particular boutique because of their great service. 'They care.'

You have no idea what makes that particular bathroom nicer but you know that it was. The company knows why and they know that they made a good choice. So does an upscale law firm, or a trendy restaurant. They know how to go the extra mile to make sure their customers are happy without them knowing exactly why the place is nicer.

Vessel sinks are a great addition to any commercial bathroom and if you want your clients leaving with a smile on their face then it might be a good idea to invest in one of these sinks.

Vessel sinks are unique because they offer a design appeal not available with most other types of sinks on the market. There are different variations to choose from including color themes, lengths, and rim heights so that a company can pick and choose which one works best with the look they are going for.

These sinks bring the idea of being clean to a whole new level. Most of the vessel sinks are ADA compliant and there are a variety of choices to help with little problems like backsplash and trap cover.

So, if you want to take the next step to make your clients feel at home then consider one of these sinks. Think about what colors you would like. Maybe you want contrasting colors. Maybe you want the colors to match. They come in a variety of different shades. It will be easy to find a match that will add flair to your business.

Think about what you need to be aware of walking in. There in lies the difference between a gas station and your place that will boost sales and make people at home without really knowing why.
