Understand Install Bathroom Tile additional

While it might seem like installing new tile in your bathroom would be an intimidating task, it need not be. Indeed, armed with the right tools and a little knowledge, it can be a fairly painless task. Here are some important steps to remember if you decide to install bathroom tile.

First, you want to get the toilet out of the way. This means you'll want to first shut off the water supply to the toilet and then physically remove the toilet--first the tank then the base--placing them in a nearby storage area until the tiling is complete. Now you need to do something about the sewer opening where the toilet was. The best suggestion is to jam a plastic bag that you've stuffed with paper towels int the sewer opening. This will keep noxious gases from making their way into the bathroom.

Next, remove the baseboard from your bathtub area. Hammer and chisel are the right tools for this task. Now keep the hammer and chisel handy as you use them to break each individual tile away from the floor. You might need to use a pry bar as well once you've separated the tile sufficiently from the floor with the chisel. If all else fails, use the hammer to break the tiles into pieces, and then sweep them up.

After figuring out the best place to start laying, use a notched trowel to comb some adhesive over your surface evenly, always keeping the trowel at a 45 degree angle. As with any tile, as you place the tiles, twist them rather than sliding them. Remember to use spacers to ensure that your spacing is the same. Let the adhesive dry some, then take out the spacers. Clean off the extra adhesive that has oozed out.

Now it's time for grouting. It's best to start in a corner. Using a rubber grout float, spread it with smooth gestures, trying your best to keep the grout even. Pack it into the joints until you're sure that they are totally filled. Once finished, use the float to scrape away the extra grout.
